David Miniatures At London Premiere of Digger with Tom Cruise

LONDON — Miniature artist David Miniatures attended the London premiere of Digger, marking a memorable milestone that culminated in a private one-on-one meeting with Tom Cruise.

Known for creating highly detailed miniature environments inspired by film and television, David Miniatures was invited by Warner Bros. to London for the premiere as part of a collaboration surrounding the film. The trip brought his work out of the studio and directly into the world that inspired it.

For the project, David recreated a key environment from Digger as a handcrafted scale miniature. The piece was built in his studio before making the journey across the Atlantic with him to London.

The premiere celebrations took place in Leicester Square, one of London’s most recognizable destinations for major film premieres. David attended the event alongside invited guests, filmmakers, talent and creators before taking part in press activities surrounding the film. But the defining moment of the trip came away from the crowds.

One-on-One With Tom Cruise

As part of the film’s press activities, David was given the opportunity to meet and speak privately with Tom Cruise. The two spent time discussing the miniature and the craftsmanship behind its creation, giving David the rare opportunity to personally show Tom Cruise his work and explain how the environment had been translated into miniature form.

For an artist whose career has been closely connected to film, it was a particularly meaningful encounter. Rather than simply seeing the finished piece, as was the case for the first ever piece David Miniatures made for Tom Cruise, Tom was able to meet the person behind it and hear firsthand about the process involved in recreating a piece of the Digger world at miniature scale.

The meeting also represented something larger for David Miniatures. Over more than two decades, David has transformed a fascination with miniature making into a career that has crossed into the entertainment industry, creating work connected with major studios and brands including Disney, Netflix, Universal, Sony, Amazon, HBO and Hasbro.

The Digger project brought that journey full circle: from studying the details of movies in a his workshop to walking the red carpet in London and discussing his own creation face-to-face with one of cinema’s most recognizable stars.
